The "United Nations Platform for Space-based Information for Disaster Management and Emergency Response" was established by the United Nations General Assembly through its resolution 61/110 of 14 December 2006. In its resolution, the General Assembly agreed to give the acronym UN-SPIDER to this programme. Read more: What is UN-SPIDER?
